Letting Go Of What Was

I’ve had the nasty, unfortunate, and debilitating habit of holding on to things that should’ve been let go of long ago. But as each day passes, and as I continue to experience growth I realize that living that way doesn’t serve me… in fact, it never did. That’s not to say that remembering past experiences has a completely negative effect because it doesn’t.

But, I tend to hold onto things with the intent of returning to what once was.

The idea of what once was has literally been somewhat of a driving force for me. But now, I don’t think it’s practical or really healthy. I’d much rather focus on what will be, and devote my time and energy to getting to that place, no longer thinking about my “former glory”. I’m applying this thought process to everything… my body, my mind, my life.

As long as I focus on what was I’ll lose sight of what could be.

I don’t want to live in the past. After all, isn’t the point of life to grow? I should constantly be getting better, not looking backward and not remaining stagnant.
