Here lately I’ve been trying to find more melodic music that I can just vibe to while working out, driving, working, or clearing my mind. To be a bit more specific I’ve been trying to find more female artist that I can vibe to that don’t all sound the same in an industry flooded with men. So it’s safe to say I was more than relieved when I first heard Dallas Artist Asia Kyree’s “Worst Way" featuring Tre Ward a little over a week ago.
My first encounter with Asia was at RKJ’s Taste of the Museum of Fashion event I covered about two weeks ago, where she performed. I missed her performance but did see her around the venue quite a bit, and her look that night gave me the impression that she was a rapper ... But boy was I wrong. Kyree has a flavor, attitude, style, and sound that is solely her own.
Worst Way is a dialogue between two lovers, starting with Tre Ward giving his side of the story with Asia Kyree singing the chorus and giving her response to Ward's verse in a way that's almost nostalgic. This song gives me Nicki Minaj “You See Right Through Me” vibes in a way that only Kyree can deliver. Worst Way is definitely playlist worthy and I’m excited to see what this budding and original artist has in store for her the world.
Worst Way can be streamed on Apple Music and SoundCloud. The link below is for SoundCloud.
