Pleasant Grove native and lyrical mastermind Rikki Blu has been on fire this summer with a series of live performances. Last weekend he performed his entire album “You Can’t Make Me” at Club Dada in Deep Ellum, Tx completely selling out the venue. Before his performance Rikki Blu‘s demeanor was the same good vibes, one love, positive energy demeanor that he had when we met for the first time at the RKJ event which by the way is when I first heard his music and when I first decided that he is definitely up next and a force to be reckoned with.
Before his set, Ricky had JR tha Geek and Kil’lab as his openers, both of which did a great job with their performances. When Blu hit the stage the entire club became oh so Dallas with the DJ playing some of Dallas’s most recognizable hits as Rikki Blu interacted with the crowd and rapped the lyrics to each song literally every lyric, it was quite entertaining. Once everyone in the audience was hyped Rikki started his set performing each one of his songs from his “You Cant Make Me” album in the order they were meant to be performed. Y’all I have to be honest and tell you that this show was one the best that I’ve been to in Dallas. With his queen by his side who is featured on two of his songs 50ft and Bruton Bazaar, Rikki Blu so eloquently delivered each of his bars and trust me he has bars for days while simultaneously genuinely connecting with his audience.
Rikki Blu has some fire unreleased music coming out soon but until it does make sure that you go check his music out on all streaming platforms if you haven’t already. I can’t wait to see where his career is about to take him.
